Learning and Understanding

Why is it important to learn and understand?

Why is it important to know how we learn best? It has to do with our own ability to relate with ourselves, first, and to others, second. Do you know how you learn best? Not sure? That’s pretty normal. And also we have to understand what we have learned. Because without understanding we cannot survive on our fields. We can’t look forward only with the theories we have learned.

Learning

Learning is mostly outlined as a method of new information being discovered and assimilated. The entire purpose of learning is that you just have to be able to assimilate all of the new things that you just realize in your environment. Therefore what we have learned by definition is that we learn; we also need to be ready to apply what we learn to our environment.

Learning Styles

There are several learning styles. But those learning styles may different from human-to-human. So let’s take a look at the top 4 learning styles, and see what style resonates with human most.

  • Visual learning: Visual learners wish to see what they're learning. These learners have an interest in the visualization of the work they're engaged with. Suppose whiteboards, flow charts, and huge post-it boards. They need to see the work in order to fully take the knowledge in, process it, and provide a meaningful response.
  • Aural learning: Someone that learns best through sound is within the aural class. Consider somebody that chooses to pay attention to audio books, or somebody that has to have somebody explain a particular task or project to them through verbalizing the steps. For them visual and written instruction won't work as effectively. Sound is the key for them.
  • Verbal learning: Verbal learners need to read that which they're to figure on or interact with. Being able to read instructions, as an example, is imperative for a verbal learner. Think about putting something along, not with an image in mind, however with a listing of steps, 1, 2, and 3. Therefore having the ability to internalize the written instruction or steps, is important for a verbal learner.
  • Kinesthetic learning: Those that learn best with their bodies are kinesthetic. These learners like to really do something with what they're learning. They need to really touch, feel, and apply the new information.

How to Prepare for an Efficient Learn

There are many techniques you'll be able to think about that smoothest out the learning method and makes retaining the information easier. By following these techniques we can do an effective learning. Here is some of that techniques,

  • Eat and avoid certain food: As for foods to really eat, good brain food would be foods with omega-3 fatty acids and folic acid. As example, sardines, salmon, walnuts, etc.
  • Drink water: Our brain is 73 water. So keep hydrated over the course of the day. And if you struggle remembering that, or the other information, bring a bottle with you and sip on it during class.
  • Sleep: A learner should have enough sleep for a good learning. But don’t suppose that you need a long sleep in order for this to work. One German study also found that even a 6-minute nap will facilitate improve memory too.
  • Remove Stress: No matter who you're, stress can be a vast impairment to learning and even recalling information. most of the people have experienced the feeling during test time where they blank on a solution. That’s probably due to stress at that moment. Therefore we have to remove stress and free our mind before learning.

Understanding

Understanding is that the method of taking all of the new information that we've got and putting it into context. We need to understand what it means to do that. The manner that we understand something is by knowing what it means to do that.

Cause and Effect

Cause and effect is that the relationship between two factors when one thing makes something else happen. So, understanding the cause/effect text structure is important in learning the fundamental ways that the world works. According to some religions this "Cause and Effect" scenario is a fundamental thing of the life. Because every thing is happening according to this.

Ex: If we eat too much junk food, we gain weight and illness.

The referee called a penalty because the player has tackled another player.

If we plant a seed, a tree will be grown.

Difference between Learning and Understand

Learning and understanding are two different things, but they are interlinked. If you only learn and don't understand what you've got learned, the concept remains with you for a very short time, however if you understand what you've got learned it'll keep permanently in your brain.

Basically, learning is like the theoretical part of any working concept and understanding is the practical part of it. As an example, we can’t assume an engineer who has only learned the theories and didn’t understand what he has leaned. Because he won’t be able to apply the theories for problems in the field and resolve them.
